Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

McPherson Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 26 689 954 783) ("we", "us", "our"), PO Box 5300, Brassall QLD 4305, operates the LawnSuite lawn care service, comprising the LawnSuite Android application and the LawnSuite web app at app.lawnsuite.com.au (together, "the App"). This policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and disclose your information, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

Account information: Email address, display name, and password when you create an account.

Beta signup: Your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your first name when you join the Android beta waitlist on our website — used to send your welcome and install-invite emails and to address you by name in them.

Business pilot enquiries: If you enquire about the business pilot on our website, we collect your name, email address, business name, state, team size and the tools you currently use — solely to assess and contact you about the pilot. These enquiries are stored in our Australian Firestore project alongside beta signups and are deleted on request to support@lawnsuite.com.au.

Zone data: Lawn zone details you enter, including zone name, area, turf type, soil type, sun exposure, and location coordinates (when you grant location permission).

Treatment data: Treatment records, schedules, and program assignments you create.

Photos: Images you capture or upload for lawn diagnosis or your photo gallery.

Chat messages: Questions you ask the AI lawn assistant and the responses generated.

Usage data: Feature usage counts (prompts, diagnoses) for subscription tier enforcement.

2. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

LawnSuite uses the following tracking and analytics technologies:

The lawnsuite.com.au marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 with a first-party analytics cookie to measure page views and traffic sources (which pages are visited and where visitors come from). This measurement is pseudonymous: it uses a random browser identifier (the _ga cookie) together with approximate location (city level) and browser/device type. It is not tied to your name or email address, and we do not use advertising features, third-party advertising trackers, or cross-site tracking. Because this identifier is a first-party cookie set on the lawnsuite.com.au domain, it is shared with our web app (app.lawnsuite.com.au) — this lets us see, for example, that a visitor who read the website went on to sign up, but it does not identify who you are.

In your browser you can block analytics scripts using your browser's tracking-protection settings or a content blocker (note that merely clearing the _ga cookie resets the identifier but does not stop measurement). The Android app currently has no in-app switch for Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics, and Android's own "Usage & diagnostics" setting does not control information collected by apps.

3. How We Use Your Information

4. Email Communications and Marketing

We send several kinds of email, governed by your consent:

All tips and marketing emails include a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Your Settings preferences and the unsubscribe link control the same consent record. We record the choices you make and the version of this disclosure they were made under (currently ec-2026-06); if we materially change how we use email, we ask for your consent again rather than assume it.

We do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing.

5. Third-Party Data Sharing

We share specific data with the following third-party services to provide App functionality:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising.

6. Overseas Disclosure (Australian Privacy Principle 8)

The majority of LawnSuite's backend runs inside Australia. Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Firebase Cloud Functions all operate from the australia-southeast1 (Sydney) region under our lawnsuite-prod-au Google Cloud project.

Our AI features — the Jed chat, AI-generated advice, and Photo Diagnosis — are sent to Google's Vertex AI service in that same australia-southeast1 (Sydney) region. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.

A small number of specific operations are processed by third-party providers operating from data centres outside Australia. Specifically:

Firebase Authentication and Resend are required service processors: signing in and transactional emails (such as your beta install invite) are necessary to deliver the service you signed up for, and cannot be opted out of individually short of not using the service. You can avoid the Open-Meteo disclosure by not providing a location for a zone, though weather-based scheduling will not work without one. Zone management, treatment logging, the dosage calculator and the plant catalogue are served from our Australian region, as are the Jed chat and Photo Diagnosis AI features. Sign-in, crash reporting, analytics, weather requests and email delivery are the exceptions noted above.

Each of these providers publishes its own privacy commitments, linked above.

Before making an overseas disclosure we take reasonable steps to require the recipient to handle your personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and we remain accountable for it as the Privacy Act requires.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your primary data (Firestore database entries and Cloud Storage photos) is stored in Google Firebase in the australia-southeast1 (Sydney) region under our lawnsuite-prod-au project. Cloud Functions serving the app's backend logic run in the same region. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (Google-managed encryption keys). Firestore security rules ensure you can only access your own data.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Delete Account within the App.

Retention periods after account deletion:

You can also request data deletion by emailing support@lawnsuite.com.au. We will action the request within 30 days and confirm completion.

9. Automated Decision-Making and AI

LawnSuite uses Google's Gemini models (via Vertex AI) to:

These outputs are advisory only. You should always verify recommendations against product labels and consult a qualified professional before applying chemicals or making significant decisions affecting health, safety, or the environment. LawnSuite is not responsible for outcomes resulting from reliance on AI-generated advice, subject to the Australian Consumer Law.

You can opt out of AI features by not using the Jed chat or the Photo Diagnosis tool. Core App features (zone management, treatment logging, dosage calculator, plant catalog, offline mode) do not rely on AI processing and function normally without AI services.

10. Data Breach Notification

If we become aware of an "eligible data breach" (as defined in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988) likely to result in serious harm to affected individuals, we will notify those individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Notification will include, where practicable, the nature of the breach, the kinds of information affected, the steps we are taking in response, and the steps you can take to reduce your risk.

11. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), you have the right to:

If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.

12. Children's Privacy

LawnSuite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before they take effect via email (if you have provided an email address) or in-app notification. Minor clarifications and legal compliance updates may take effect immediately and will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
